Sticks and Bricks

When the renter’s insurance representative asked, “what is the value of your possessions?” I had to laugh. After seven years living in a 20 foot trailer I have clothes and dishes, no furniture. The representative suggested I take the minimum amount. I agreed.

I have traded in wheels for what full-time RVers call “sticks and bricks”.

Hi, my name is Alison, and I am a Facebook MarketPlace addict. In a month’s time I have purchased a couch, bedframe, mattress, dining table and chairs, two living room chairs, end tables, a SmartTV and bed side stand, sewing worktables, office chair, outside deck chairs, and some odds and ends. All total I will have spent less than $1500. I like to check out stuff on FB Marketplace everyday, but I am not in the market for more stuff.

When I sold my house in Washington, D.C., I got rid of all my stuff. I also discovered that no one wants to pay you for your stuff and I ended up donating most of it. I have a new appreciation for thrift stores, Craig’s list and Facebook Marketplace. You never should buy new stuff, instead buy somebody elses stuff.

I miss Scout, she is sitting in the parking area at my new home on Seclusion Court, Raleigh, North Carolina.  I need to do a deep clean, hang the new mini-blinds and curtains, and take great pictures and a video for my sale ad.  Yes, I am procrastinating and having a tough time letting go.

Mom and Erv moved into nursing care at Carolina Meadows, and I am glad to see her more frequently.  Maggie and I are adjusting to Raleigh.  October was very busy.  I was canvassing for the Wake County Dems, and the coordinated campaign, and I worked the 14-day early voting for Wake County.  A lot of good that did…

I plan to work on my golf game.  My final chapter on the Road2Reinvention?

Friends from Airzona came by on their way to Michigan, and I hope if you are in North Carolina you’ll come visit.
