Rural vs. Urban

You couldn’t pay me to live in the country, and here I am writing from remote Reidsville, GA.  Campgrounds are rarely in urban areas, and Jack Hill is as rural as it gets.  In rural America you can shop at Walmart (NAUGHT), Food Lion or the Dollar store.  That’s why I love hosting at First Landing in Virginia Beach, VA.  Beach, campground, and shopping at Trader Joe’s!

But I don’t get why people want to build a huge house out in the country? I have met so many men who spend far too much time mowing their lawn. Just shoot me. Too many men are home bodies. They seem to find enjoyment watching grass grow so they can go mow. In my next life I want to be able to walk everywhere and drive an electric car.

Have you ever been to a Tractor Supply (TS) store? It is an experience. They have do-it-yourself dog washes for $10, which is why I have become at TS fan. At TS you can get all your farm and domestic animal supplies, live chicks, tools, troughs, plaid shirts and boots, and of course an AK-47. Yikes! I driven all over looking for dog washes. Now all I need to find is the local TS, and they are everywhere. I can’t believe Bring Fido doesn’t list TS as places to bring your dog?

I dove over an hour to the outskirts of Savannah to pick up my prescription meds at Costco.   I love Savannah and Charleston, but don’t really want to walk around in this heat.  I could go to a museum, but I am not really into museums. Go figure? My sister Becky got the museum gene, she has to read very plack. On my drive I did find a farm stand and got some wonderful GA peaches and tomatoes. It has been very hot and lot of bugs here. Maggie and I are spending too much time in the trailer in the air conditioning. When I am moving golf carts around Maggie is lounging in the pro-shop in the AC.

It’s been too hot to play golf, so my hosting here hasn’t worked out as I had hoped.  Live and learn. I am cutting my stay short, and will head back to North Carolina on 7/18, with brief stops at Hard Labor State Park, and Ashville, NC to visit union pal Carol.  Then back to Cary, NC to see Mom and visiting family.  Robin is coming from Paris, Kerry is coming from Anchorage, and nephew David is coming from Colorado.  I will make my annual return to Washington, DC August 13. Maggie is looking forward to visiting her favorite place in the world, Congressional Cemetery. August is going to be busy. Hope to see my DC pals!

Stay tuned.
